This is a phenomenal, tragic, hideous story shared so profoundly and bravely within this interview with Louise Nicholas. Louise is a phenomenal human, wāhine, survivor and someone I am beyond honoured to call my friend. Her story of being raped by three Police officers over a number of years, and how her courage led to changes in process, procedure and operational aspects of how Police work with victims of sexual violence.
There is a powerful and unquestionable intersection between family and sexual violence. The more we can learn about the journeys of others, the better equipped we are to respond.
This is part of the wonderful Dave Obedas TFS podcast series. His stories are real, they are raw, and they cover the realities of the abuse, violence, trauma and experiences of individuals in Aotearoa New Zealand.
This is nearly an hour long, but please take the time to watch it and share the courage of Louise.
